Paul Kelly – Chairman 2010 to 2019

Paul was HCO Chairman from 2010 until 2019, and previously for several years during the 1980s. He first performed with the orchestra, as Guest Leader, in 1975, on which occasion he had to complete The Great Peacock, conducted by the composer Humphrey Searle, on three strings, having broken the E. Paul’s vigorous playing style has continued to inflict various harm on his instrument ever since. The high point of Paul’s HCO career came in July 2012, when he was married to our bassoonist, Katy.

Paul is also Chairman of Havering Arts Council, and is a keen supporter of the visual and dramatic arts in the borough. He has been the principal organizer of the Havering Arts Festival for the past five years. He was educated locally at The Campion School, and is a member of the parish of St Joseph’s Church in Upminster. Professionally Paul has worked as an editor and publisher of political and economic reference books.
